During a recent study of Kiski’s educational practices, the Center for the Study of Boys Lives at the University of Pennsylvania found a key theme emphasized by our students - transformation. Boys from different backgrounds, nationalities, abilities and talents all agreed that their experiences at Kiski had taken them from an average level and transformed them into young men with exceptional potential. This process is not unique to today’s students, though. For 120 years, boys have exited the hallowed gates of the School prepared for the future, ready to take their transformation to the next level.

As a faculty member, coach and advisor, I have the privilege of watching our boys learn, struggle and succeed each day. During personal discussions, several students have shared with me how Kiski has literally changed their lives by providing a setting and the resources that foster exploration and achievement. With my responsibilities as Annual Fund Director, I see the impact each monetary gift to the School has on the educational opportunities for each boy. And I know how much these gifts are valued.

I ask you to partner with us this year in transforming boys lives by giving to the Kiski Annual Fund. Each gift is important - each gift makes a difference. To illustrate this point, I share with you the following information about how far a donation can go at Kiski:

$100 = science supplies for one class
$500 = a professional development conference for one teacher
$1,500 = educational technology software for mathematics
$3,500 = heating the dorms for one month during the winter
$12,000 = ice-time at a local rink for the hockey team for one season
$25,000 = a new grand piano for the music classes and Glee Club

The above list provides just a sample of the many costs involved in operating a premier boarding school. While tuition may keep the lights on and the faculty paid, it is not enough to provide a transformative education. The Annual Fund helps bridge the gap.
