Capital Campaign for Kiski - Phase II Update

The School was proud to publicly announce that we are slightly over $2 million and more than 50 percent of the way toward our Second Phase goal of $3.5 million in new capital funding. The beginning and quiet phase of the campaign was very successful and now the School will be talking with and soliciting a new round of donors so that we can meet and exceed the goal allowing us to build the new Swank Student Center for Kiski. To view video of new Student Center click here.

The new Swank Student Center will enhance the campus environment by centralizing and expanding facilities to support student activities, academic services, community gathering and other important offerings. Located in the heart of campus, the Center will allow students from every grade to interact and socialize together, bringing a new dimension to the Kiski experience. Relocating and enlarging the bookstore and snack bar, both presently housed on the north edge of campus, will make these resources readily available to students, teachers, parents and other visitors. A state-of-the-art media center, several student meeting rooms and advisory offices will facilitate greater educational opportunity through hands-on learning and group study sessions. Most importantly, moving the College Counseling Office into the Student Center will enable our guidance staff to interact daily with each boy, while providing an appropriate location for college representatives to meet with our students. The Swank Student Center will quickly become the hub of student life and extracurricular learning on campus.

In addition to the $3.5 million that will be raised for the new Swank Student Center, Kiski is also actively raising new funding to support scholarships, athletics, the arts, technology, and the endowment.

Kiski Trustee, David Conrad, who shared his excitement about Kiski as well as a recent video from WQED’s On-Q Magazine covering his documentary film about Kiski and legendary teacher and coach, Tamas Szilagyi. He encourages alumni to return to Kiski on June 6 and 7, 2008 for Alumni Reunion Weekend, unveiling to the public a viewing of his documentary. The School plans the viewing for Saturday afternoon, June 7. More information will be forthcoming during the next few weeks. To view the KDKA vignette about Tamas, please click here.
