Kiski's John Martinelli Takes First Place in Nation
John Martinelli  captured first place nationally for the catagory of Cyber Security in the Future Business Leaders of America Competition (FBLA) at the National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. At the National Leadership Conference, John was able to showcase his entrepreneurial leadership skills and win the Cyber Security event.

The four-day conference is considered the pinnacle FBLA expereince. The FBLA has forged partnerships with industry leaders to underwrite competitive events and scholarships for students achieving national ranking. DeVry University sponsored the Cyper Security competition and John was awarded $750.

John is entering his senior year at Kiski and he has already developed and launched his own consulting business in web security. He recently created a corporate entity and has several clients.

Kiski Lacrosse Team, Wins Division 2 WPSLA Championship, Chris Spahn Captures Coach of the Year
The Kiski Cougars defeated Baldwin, 15-10 capturing first in Division II, Western Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association (WPSLA) Championships.

Kiski was the more offensive team even though Baldwin led all teams in the WPSLA in goals. The Cougars held a 7-4 lead after two quarters and opened up a seven-goal lead when four players scored in the third quarter. Brandon Bortignon finished with three goals each for Kiski while Derek Young, Dave Celko and Kyle Davis scored two goals each. Ryan Miller made 16 spectacular saves.

Four Kiski Lacrosse Players Earn All League Honors
The WPSLA announced its all league teams and the Cougars placed four players on the 2008 Division II All North Team. Congratulations to Kyle Davis, Ryan Miller, Brandon Bortignon and Dylan Pasco.

Boston Grand Piano Arrives
Mellon Foundation Gives $2 Million Grant
The Richard King Mellon Foundation has awarded The Kiski School a $2 million grant to support the construction of its new Swank Student Center and to fund the School’s endowment. This is the largest grant The Kiski School has received in its 120-history.

The Mellon Foundation has provided $1 million for the construction of the Swank Student Center and $1 million for the School’s endowment. The Student Center will centralize and expand facilities to support academic advising, college counseling, group study projects, and student services at the School.
