Visual & Performing Arts

At The Kiski School, we celebrate the diversity of talents in our community and provide ways for each boy to express his ideas, opinions, and personality. We recognize that the academic classroom does not provide all students with the best means to express themselves, so we have other programs to support them:

•  In our art studio, students paint, sketch, sculpt, and create other forms of visual artwork. A gallery on the second floor of the Rogers Fine Arts Center serves as a forum where the Kiski community can appreciate the artistic talents of our students and faculty.

•  Our drama program produces two major performances each year, and brief sketches on special occasions. Recent productions have included I Hate Hamlet, a comedy by Paul Rudnik; Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s, Welcome to the Monkeyhouse; and Neil Simon's comic fable, Fools.

•  The music program provides a wealth of opportunities for Kiski boys to develop and share their talent. Introductory courses teach performance, theoretical, and listening skills. The instrumental music program includes a jazz and symphonic ensemble with opportunities for individual study with private instructors. Our Glee Club tackles music from the classic Americana to contemporary a cappella. All groups perform numerous times throughout the year, including trips to nearby girls' schools for joint concerts.

Every spring, the Fine and Performing Arts department organizes An Evening with the Arts, the annual highlight of the Kiski arts program. This special event is a cooperative production between the Glee Club and the Kiski Players; and showcases the artistic talents of the Kiski community.
