Early in the morning on Friday, February 8, 2019, a vibrant group of alumni, trustees, parents, friends, and supporters of Kiski gathered together on the slopes of Vail, Colorado to celebrate Kiski and to enjoy a few days of intense skiing with each other on the beautiful slopes of Vail. Alumnus and trustee, Kyle Webb ’86, continues to be an exceptional and creative skier and as such, he stepped up once again this year to be the official “ski leader” for the Kiski outing in Vail. Kyle expertly led our Kiski ski group on many long, gorgeous, leg-burning, and exciting ski runs.
At the end of the skiing day on Friday, the Kiski group gathered together for delicious drinks and dinner at a special Bavarian Restaurant in Vail known as Alpenrose. It was an enjoyable evening and the group had a great time being together and sharing many highly entertaining stories about both “the old” and “the new” Kiski. The Kiski ski group also shared many important and enjoyable memories about classmates, faculty members, coaches, as well as the very memorable “Jake Zeigler rope tow” for skiing and sledding that used to be run on the golf course near to the Kiski ski slope!
The Kiski group skied together on Saturday and met for an enjoyable lunch together at Los Amigos in Vail Village. This was a good and central spot to be together, to catch up, and to take in a much-needed mid-day break. At the end of the afternoon, when everyone in the ski group was ready for some much-needed rest and relaxation, Rick Case ’86 and his wife Christine graciously hosted a gathering for all at their wonderful weekend place located just off of the slopes in the Lionshead Village of Vail.
John Jacob ’89, Kyle Webb ’86, Steve Szilagyi ’88, and Zander Szilagyi ’21 were in attendance throughout the weekend and regularly supplied the group with many helpful and informative updates about Kiski’s admission and advancement programs. They were also able to update the group about the School’s many recent campus improvements and Kiski’s overall continued progress that has been pushed forward by the tremendous success of the recent Capital Campaign for Kiski.
A superb time was had by all in Vail, Colorado and those in attendance sincerely appreciated the many informative updates about the School and the unique and rewarding chance to ski and reconnect with other members of the Kiski family within the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. If you are interested in taking part in the Kiski Ski Weekend next year, please be sure to reach out to Kyle Webb ’86 and/or the advancement office at Kiski.
