How to Prepare for Your Kiski Adventure pt. 2

Part 2: Optional Items

We hope you’re having a blast this summer and enjoying the free time! While you’re away from school, we’re working hard to make sure everything is ready for your return. At Kiski, we want to provide you with the best equipment and tools to make sure you have every advantage. As part of our Laptop Computer Program, every student will be issued a school laptop. The cost of these computers is included in the tuition. You should also come to school prepared with your textbooks and the proper Kiski attire. So, aside from books and uniforms, what optional items can you bring from home?

  • Bicycles and Scooters
You are permitted to bring your bike or a non-motorized scooter. With a 400-acre campus, there’s plenty of room for a nice bike ride as long as you’re wearing a helmet. You are not allowed to bring skateboards.

  • Room Appliances
Students are allowed to bring small refrigerators no larger than 2.6 cubic feet. You can contact the Director of Residential Life for details about the size of your room and to see if you can share a small refrigerator with your roommate. Electrical appliances including televisions, microwaves, gaming systems, air conditioners, electric blankets, space heaters, coffee makers, and hot plates are not permitted.

  • Musical Instruments
At Kiski, we have a fantastic music program with a limited supply of instruments available for students to use. We encourage all students to bring their own musical instruments. The more instruments our students have, the more noise we can make!

  • Room Furnishings
Your dorm room will already have standard twin beds, desks, chairs, bureaus, and closets. Aside from bringing bedding and pillows here are a few additional furnishing you may want to bring:
  • Desk lamp
  • Extension cord
  • Hangers
  • Laundry basket
  • Laundry detergent
  • Sewing kit
  • Storage bins
  • Lock box
  • Surge protector
  • Toiletries
You can find a more complete list of suggested items in our welcome guide for new parents and students. In the meantime, we’re excited to have you at Kiski this fall and we look forward to helping you transition to the Kiski lifestyle! If you have any questions about what to bring please feel free to contact us.
