5 New Year’s Resolutions for Kiski Boys

Before you start looking forward to what 2017 will bring, it’s important to reflect back on 2016. Remember what you accomplished this year and contemplate where you didn’t quite reach your goals. Maybe you were always late to soccer practice, but earned top grades in all of your classes. Maybe you didn’t do as well in math class as you’d like, but excelled in music. Whatever happened in 2016 can be used as inspiration and motivation for how you’ll reach your goals in the new year. Here are a few new year resolutions for high school students to help you make 2017 your best year yet:

  1. Prioritize Organization
Our Kiski Boys are always busy. Whether you’re attending class, studying, playing sports, participating in extracurriculars, or even just hanging out with friends, you’ll always have something to do at Kiski. In order to keep up with your busy schedule, it’s important to be organized. Learning organizational skills in high school while balancing classes, sports, and friends will help you excel in college and beyond.

  1. Don’t Procrastinate
If you can kick your habit of procrastinating in high school, it will benefit you far into the future. This year, resolve to eliminate procrastination from your vocabulary and be proactive about all of your assignments, test, and college applications.

  1. Don’t Get Overwhelmed
With all of the activities available at Kiski, it’s difficult to limit yourself to only a few. Instead of trying to do everything all at once, you should consider how much work you’re committing to. You don’t want to get overwhelmed and burnt out because you’re taking too many classes and playing too many sports. It’s more beneficial for you to focus on excelling in a few things than to spread yourself thin trying to do it all.

  1. Prepare for College
While sometimes it may seem like high school will never end, college is right around the corner for both freshman and seniors alike. Talk to your college counselor and make sure you’re on the right track. You may also want to make a calendar dedicated only to the college search and application process where you can keep track of deadlines and test dates.

  1. Try something new
This is the perfect time to try something new. Audition for a play or sign up for pottery class. Trying new things is how we grow, and you may enjoy your new hobby more than you think.

High school is a time to have fun, absorb as much information as you can, and build lifelong friendships with your peers. For students whose new year’s resolution is to attend The Kiski School, don’t forget the deadline to enroll for Fall 2017 is January 31, 2017. With a clear set of goals and resolutions, you’ll be prepared to conquer high school and 2017!
